Although older adults (50 years and older) often want to or need to work, many lack the basic digital skills they need to secure meaningful employment. The first step on the path to job readiness is to gain an accurate assessment of the individual’s digital skills. Most of the available assessment tools have been designed for digital natives or younger workers. The challenge is to conceive and design a digital literacy assessment tool for use by older adults that can be used to accurately assess digital skills and assist in the creation of individualized training plans.
